NIPT is a prenatal screening method that uses high-throughput gene sequencing and molecular genetic techniques to detect fetal cell-free DNA fragments in maternal peripheral blood, assessing the risk of common fetal chromosomal aneuploidies (T21, T18, T13). The test extracts free DNA from maternal blood containing fetal genetic information and analyzes it through high-throughput sequencing to detect abnormalities in fetal chromosome number and structure. Compared to traditional maternal serum screening, NIPT offers advantages of high detection rate and low false positive rate, while avoiding the risks associated with invasive methods such as amniocentesis.
